Playgrounds as a Hub for Active, Healthy Schools

There are a wide array of physical, cognitive, and psychological benefits that can be derived from active play. School playgrounds are an ideal setting to promote active play and can be capitalized upon as a hub for comprehensive school physical activity programs (CSPAP). The purpose of this webinar is to introduce latest research and strategies that can be used to maximize the use of playgrounds to promote an active school culture.

  1. Identify at least three benefits of active play.
  2. Summarize how school playgrounds can contribute to the five components of CSPAP.
  3. Describe two strategies that can maximize the value of active play on school playgrounds.
  4. Create an advocacy statement to champion the role schools play in student health and wellness.
